Low Carb Burger Bowl

This Low Carb Burger Bowl recipe is a quick and delicious low carb keto meal that comes together in under 30 minutes. There is minimal clean-up and it is an amazing meal for those nights you want to throw everything from your fridge into one recipe.

There are those days when you just crave a juicy burger, well I have the perfect low carb, keto-friendly recipe that will satisfy all of your cravings! You get all of your favorite burger toppings in one bowl, and you already have most of the food needed for this burger bowl in your fridge.

WHAT IS A KETO BURGER BOWL?

Good question! It is comparable to a taco salad or a burrito bowl, except a burger version. It contains all of the delicious parts of a tasty burger, but in one bowl instead of on a bun. By putting your favorite burger ingredients on top of a bed of lettuce, you get all of your favorite parts of a burger in one bite with no mess.

I like making this recipe by crumbling the meat because I think it is easier to get all the delicious flavors in every bite, and it is not as messy to eat. If you prefer to keep your meat in a patty, then that works too and you can just put the other ingredients on top of the patty.

INGREDIENTS YOU NEED FOR THIS FOR THIS LOW CARB BURGER BOWL

This delicious burger bowl only needs a couple ingredients you already have at home. To make this keto friendly burger bowl recipe you will need:

Ground turkey
Avocado oil
Garlic powder, salt and pepper
Green leaf lettuce
Cooked crispy bacon
Pickles
Cucumbers
Avocado
Cherry tomatoes
Red onions, chopped
Shredded cheese

For the sauce you will need:

Whole30 compliant avocado oil mayonnaise (Primal Kitchen)
Whole30 compliant ketchup (Primal Kitchen)
Coconut aminos

Another really nice thing about this burger in a bowl recipe, is you can substitute or subtract foods based on what diet or program you are following.

VARIATIONS

I like cooking with turkey for this recipe, but feel free to trade it for beef, chicken, or pork.

I typically use green leaf lettuce, but you can use butter lettuce or any greens of your choice.

No a fan of onions or tomatoes – feel free to leave them out.

To make a vegan burger bowl, you can use a lentil burger or any plant-based burger recipe

You can leave out cheese for Whole30 and Paleo.

Instead of crumbling the meat, you can keep it as a patty instead.

Serve with or without fries.

HOW TO MAKE A KETO BURGER BOWL

  1. In a large skillet, heat avocado oil over medium heat, add ground meat and cook until brown, while crumbling.
  2.  Assemble the bowl, starting with greens then add browned meat and arrange remaining toppings around the meat.
  3. Mix the ingredients together for the sauce, top over burger bowl and serve.

WHY SHOULD YOU MAKE A BURGER IN A BOWL?

First of all, grilling season is coming up and burgers are a staple during this time of year! Also, this recipe can also be made as a meal prep option for those weeks you are going to be super busy. Not only is this recipe less messy to eat than a typical burger, but it is also less messy to make!

A keto burger bowl is a great way to have a tasty meal, while consuming important nutrients. It is a much healthier option than the fast food restaurants that serve burgers in bowls. Another great thing about this recipe is that you can mix it up by changing the toppings you put on top of the meat and greens.

If you want to share this recipe with a big group of people, convert the amount of ingredients you use to fit the amount of people you will be serving. You can provide all of the toppings on the table in multiple small bowls and provide the meat in one big bowl, then everyone can choose which toppings they want to put in their personal burger bowl.

HOW TO STORE AND REHEAT LEFTOVERS

If you want to meal prep or store leftovers for this low carb burger in a bowl, all you need to do is separate the meat evenly into lunch containers and heat it up when you want to eat it next, then mix in the other ingredients. When you are heating up the meat, make sure it is reheated to 165 degrees Fahrenheit before you serve it.

You don’t want to mix the other ingredients with the meat in the fridge because it will become soggy when you heat up the meat again. However, you can keep the other ingredients stored together and keep them in separate airtight containers and mix it together with the meat after you heat it up.
