Eggs are a staple at our house. They are incredibly nutritious, low in calories and high in protein, folate, phosphorous, selenium and Vitamins, A B2, B5 and B12.
I always have hard-boiled eggs on hand to keep me fueled throughout the day.
They make a healthy paleo, ketogenic and whole 30 compliant snack for myself and our kids. Plus, they are super easy to make on the stove. But want to know my favorite way to make eggs? In our Instant Pot – seriously – life changing!
HOW TO MAKE INSTANT POT EGGS – HARD AND SOFT BOILED
1. First, you’re going to insert the steamer rack that came with your Instant Pot or this other handy steamer / egg rack I’ve seen on Amazon. Next, you’re going to pour one cup of water to the bottom of the inner
2. Close and lock the lid and turn the valve to sealing.
3. Press the MANUAL or PRESSURE COOK on HIGH button, then adjust the time to:
FOR SOFT BOILED EGGS WITH:
- A RUNNY – PARTIALLY COOKED YOLK: 2-3 MINUTES
- ALMOST COOKED YOLK: 4 MINUTES
FOR HARD BOILED EGGS: 5 MINUTES
4. Immediately do a quick release by using a long spoon and push the valve to venting – allow all the steam to release. Carefully unlock and open the lid.
5. Unlock and open the lid, then immediately transfer eggs to a water bath until completely cool. Gently crack eggs and peel from the bottom up.
6. And that’s it – perfectly cooked eggs in the Instant Pot every time! How easy was that?

Ingredients
- 6- 9 large eggs*
- 1 cup water
- Instant Pot steamer rack
- Instant Pot
Instructions
FOR THE INSTANT POT METHOD:

Insert the steam rack in the inner pot of the Instant Pot. Pour water inside.

Place the eggs on top of the steam rack that comes with the Instant Pot

Close and seal the lid. Move valve to sealing. .

Press the MANUAL or PRESSURE COOK (high) button and adjust time to:
FOR SOFT BOILED EGGS FOR A RUNNY - PARTIALLY COOKED YOLK: 2-3 MINUTES
FOR SOFT BOILED EGGS WITH AN ALMOST COOKED YOLK: 4 MINUTES
FOR HARD BOILED EGGS: 5 MINUTES

Allow 5-10 minutes for the Instant Pot to come to pressure. After the selected minutes are up and the eggs are cooked:

Quickly transfer eggs to a large bowl with ice cold water and keep running water until cool enough to hold. Allow eggs to sit in very cold water until completely cool. When the eggs are cool, gently crack and peel.
FOR THE STOVE-TOP METHOD:

Place the eggs in a medium-large (depending on how many you make) pot and cover with cold water.

Cover with lid and set the pot over high heat and bring the water to a rolling boil

As soon as the water comes to a boil, immediately remove the pot from the heat and allow to sit, covered for the correct time depending on desired doneness below:
For hard boiled eggs:

15 minutes
For soft boiled eggs:

4-6 minutes

Quickly transfer eggs to a large bowl with ice cold water and keep running water until cool enough to hold. Allow eggs to sit in very cold water until completely cool. When the eggs are cool, gently crack and peel.
Recipe Notes
RECIPE NOTES *please note the size of your eggs will affect the cooking time. I used large eggs for all of these cooking times. It is also imperative to immediately transfer the cooked eggs to a bowl containing ice cold water in order to peel easily. I used large eggs for all of these cooking times.
